Posts On Google Now Available to Local Businesses

Previously, Google’s ‘Posts on Google’ was only available to a select number of celebs, sports leagues and teams, movie studios and museums, allowing them to post updates (similar to that of social media platforms) directly to Google’s search result pages. Images, GIFs, videos and text-based updates could be posted and utilised for driving traffic to their websites.

With a recent update however, local businesses can now publish their activities, events, services and products straight to Google Search and Maps. For example, daily special offers and new product launches can be showcased and linked to their websites.

The Posts On Google feature was originally launched as ‘candidate cards’ back in January 2016 and were primarily used by political candidates before also being made available to a limited number of small businesses.

Whilst some may see it as a possible revival of Google’s Google+ efforts, Posts On Google is, more importantly, a way for businesses large and small to publish timely updates to their customers from both the web and using the Google My Business apps on iOS and Android.

According to research, 70% of people will look at multiple businesses before they settle on one. Posts On Google can help you stand out from the crowd and offer potential customers an insight into your business right on the search results page and engage with them by way of custom calls to action.

Google My Business users can start utilising Posts On Google straight away. Alternatively, if you have yet to sign up, you will need to complete the verification process before you can start posting and users the other features of My Business.
